Earth
If you listen very carefully while everyone’s asleep
You can hear the planet sing to you and feel her rhythm deep. She sings a song of matter; of energy and time
As she revolves in space she sings an endless rhyme.
She sings of caves and coal and earth,
Of badgers, worms and dust,
Of flint and ores and magic tales
Of goblins and of rust.
She sings of ancient cultures, of heroes and their deeds,
And her delight when sensing the delicate growing seeds.
And if you listen carefully while everyone’s asleep
You can hear Earth softly whimper and echo in the deep
And catch her softly whisper as she rolls along:
“Isn’t anybody left who can hear a planets’ song?”
